The aim of the Young Academy | HAdW is to promote the careers of early career researchers who want to work independently on interdisciplinary research topics with challenging research projects or organize conferences on such topics. Thus, the Young Academy | HAdW takes up the idea of interdisciplinary discussion in the academy and at the same time enriches its scientific profile.
Various funding initiatives are combined in the Young Academy | HAdW: The starting point is the WIN Programme, which was launched in 2002 and initially consisted only of the WIN-Kolleg (internal link) and was expanded in 2007 to include the aspect of conference funding within the framework of the WIN Conferences (internal link).
With the Akademie-Kolleg (internal link), established in 2010, the Heidelberg Academy promotes the dialogue between young and experienced scientists. Members of the Akademie Kolleg are former members of the WIN-Kolleg and award winners of the Academy. They have the right to attend Academy meetings, can observe the work of the Academy, especially in its sustainability projects, and participate in Academy discussions.
