Papyrus-Editions

1962 - 2002

Schwarz-weiß Abbildung eines Textes auf Papyrus. Der Inhalt der Schrift: Eine Musiktruppe wird zur Unterhaltung bei einem Fest engagiert (P. Heid, IV 328; 3. Jhdt. n. Chr.)
A music group is hired for entertainment at a festival (P. Heid, IV 328; 3rd century AD).

The research centre developed the "Comprehensive Catalogue of Greek Papyrus Documents from Egypt," an electronic database that contains information on, among other things, the creation date, exact origin, availability of images, and the content of all published documentary papyri and ostraca from Egypt.

The Database (external link) is accessible online in its always up-to-date version. It also contains links to other pages where information about the relevant texts can be found, thus serving as a reference center for internet activities in the field of papyrology.

A second project, namely the edition of approximately 500 Greek ostraca from the Heidelberg Papyrus Collection, most of which originate from the area around Thebes (2nd-3rd century AD) and primarily consist of tax receipts and similar texts of interest for the economic history of Egypt, was completed before the closure of the research office.
