The Friends' Association (external link) supports the Baden-Württemberg State Academy of Sciences and Humanities both intellectually and materially. It is important to the members of the Friends' Association that science can develop and renew itself without restriction in the Academy, that young scientists are also supported in their careers and that the dialogue between science and the public is strengthened. The Academy Award, founded in 1984, is intended to contribute to this. The Association also supports the Academy's global research projects with grants and finances symposia, conferences and events. It also specifically promotes conferences on socially relevant issues organised by young researchers at the Academy.
